HMC Connect-ED Updates
November 28, 2007
The first campus-wide test of the HMC Emergency Notification System was conducted on Wednesday November 28, 2007 by Campus Safety director, Lena Robinson. A Test Message was sent to all 7 Claremont College campuses at 3:00pm using the Connect-ED System. HMC used this test to measure message delivery times and to verify contact data.
Several staff members were asked to report times they received the Test Message.
HMC staff reported receiving:
- Text messages between 2:55pm and 2:59pm (Note:The test was pre-set for delivery at 3:00pm, the system sent the message 5 minutes early at 2:55pm)
- Emails between 2:57pm and 3:10pm
- Cell phone calls between 2:59pm and 3:10pm
- Office phone calls between 3:11pm and 3:15pm.(Note: Because of limited incoming phone ports Connect-ED staggered the phone calls.)
HMC contact data revealed:
- Ten bad phone numbers
- Sixty "No Answer" calls. (The majority of these calls were students without cell phone numbers. We are currently contacting these students to ensure they received the Test Message)
- Two "busy" and four "hangup" calls
