Food Service
All students living in the residence halls must subscribe to one of three meal plans unless they are living in meal-plan optional housing. (Exceptions to this policy can be made only through the Dean of Students and only for highly unusual medical reasons.) The meal plans are accessed through special coding on the Student ID card.
The meal plan options involve Board Plus-a set amount of dollars available for your use at any Claremont College dining hall or retail site. The choices are 16 meals plus $16 Board Plus per week, 12 meals and $12 Board Plus per week, and 8 meals plus $8 Board Plus per week. Meals are eaten in the dining halls and Board Plus can be used at any food site, dining hall or retail. It is spent like a debit card. Board Plus cannot be traded for cash.
Students living in the Atwood efficiencies, Linde apartments or non-frosh living in Sontag Residence Hall may elect to be on or off the meal plan. Students wishing to make changes in their meal plan should do so at the Business Affairs Office, Kingston 229, or with the Dean of Residential Life, Platt Campus Center, during the first week of the semester.Hoch-Shanahan Dining Hall Regulations
- All students must present a valid meal card upon entering the dining hall.
- If the card is lost or invalidated, you must visit the Dining Card Office in the basement of McAlister Center within the next two meals to revalidate your card or obtain a temporary card. If you fail to do so, you will not be allowed to eat the third consecutive meal without first going to the office.
- Meal cards are not transferable. Students must use their own meal cards, although Board Plus can be used to purchase meals for guests.
