HMC's Office of Institutional Research, led by Janel Henriksen Hastings, is responsible for the analysis, interpretation and reporting of data collected from local and national surveys and research studies, including the National Survey of Student Engagement, Faculty Survey of Student Engagement and surveys distributed to HMC students and alumni.

Currently, the office provides primary coordination of HMC’s accreditation process with the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC); Janel Hastings serves as the college’s Academic Liaison Officer to WASC.

An on-going project for this office will be to coordinate with academic and administrative departments in designing and implementing assessment tools that help to measure progress toward specified student learning outcomes and departmental objectives.
