Lafayette, Colorado provided the perfect backdrop and for the second year in a row, Kaylin Spitz ’10 and her parents, Susan and Keith Spitz P10, opened their home to welcome incoming students with warmth and enthusiasm to the Mudd community. Attended by seven families, this event included, according to dad Keith, “A GREAT group of people, as always.”
Holmdel, New Jersey provided the venue for Andrea Levy ’11 and her parents, Barbara Bennett P11 and Don Levy P11, to host an event at their home and, despite an ill-timed thunderstorm which eliminated the “backyard” part of their “Backyard Dessert Buffet,” mom Barbara reported it was, “successful, attended by 17 people and featured a Mudd Pie created in honor of the event by daughter Andrea ’11.”

Pasadena, California was the location of a wonderful and relaxed pre-frosh event, hosted by David Zitter ’10 and his parents, Carol and Martin Zitter P10 at their home. Attended by over a dozen people, the Zitters reported that they, “had a lot of fun hosting their frosh event” and even created a banner which read “Hello, young Mudders” which they hung across the front of their home and which served as a backdrop for an impromptu photo shoot after dinner.
Renton, Washington was the setting for Brian Stock ’09 and his parents, Donna and Curtis P09 to host a potluck picnic at a park near their home and mom, Donna, reported that, “we had a good gathering here in Renton with about 18 people in attendance including a Trustee of the college.”
Burlingame, California was the destination of many bay area incoming students, current Mudders and HMC alumni who gathered at the home of Harry Wornick ’11 and his parents, Cynthia and Kenneth Wornick P11 for a lovely evening filled with traditional barbecue fare, laughter and conversation. Attended by a large number of alumni who enthusiastically welcomed the class of 2012, a number of current students were also present to answer questions about the different dorms and campus life in general.
Weston, Massachusetts was the site of a Friday night barbecue at the home of Andrew Macrae ’11, dad, Doug, and step-mom, Julie.
Naperville, Illinois was the place to be for a welcome dinner hosted by Joanne Redford ’09 and her parents Stephen and Catherine Redford P09.
