President Emeritus Joseph Platt Rests Well After Surgery
President Maria Klawe recently visited President Emeritus Joseph Platt and reports that he is doing well. He was in the hospital for hip replacement surgery in late April, followed by a month of rehabilitation. But he is now back at home and would be delighted to hear from Harvey Mudd College alumni. During Alumni Weekend 2009, many alumni sent their best wishes to Dr. Platt for a speedy recovery by signing a very large get-well card. Afterwards, a small contingency from the class of 1969 — Robert DePietro, Joseph Byrne and Thomas Bleakney — delivered the card and had a short visit with Dr. Platt. The warm thoughts expressed by the alumni who participated in the card-signing were much appreciated by the Platt family.
